NFS – One of my earliest metal sculptures (2006ish). To pass some time, I would wander around in the woods near my house. I gathered great deal of neat old metal stuff laying around out there.
Time, neglect, and chance made this piece of copper a terrific anthropomorphic form. I did not alter it, only presented it as you see it now. The base I made from an old car fender that someone had used for target practice long ago.
I like to ponder the life cycle of these things. The copper came from a very old refrigerator, and of course the fender from a car. These things were likely apex technology for their era, but ultimately supplanted by the next best thing. They were put out to pasture, shot at, scavenged, then forgotten. Those woods have since been cleared and developed. All that remains, is just an apparition.
