Color Study #4 (Transmorgrifyer)

$95 – Measures 7 x 15 x 1 1/4 – Various pieced of car parts transformed into gauges and attached to an aluminum backer. Aluminum was ” Jeweled ” or “turned” to give the swirl pattern. When I worked at Coast Guard Headquarters, someone had taken a small cardboard box and fashioned a gauge from it. It was placed on top of a file cabinet in a common hallway. It was called the Transmorgrifyer (I don’t exactly recall the spelling) I loved that someone would move the needle on the gauge on a regular basis, and the thing sort of invited you to do so. Its whimsy and simplicity was random ray of sunshine in an otherwise dull place.
